Monocle Magazine just did a great feature on the maker movement in San Francisco, California. While there are plenty of great shots of machines and items being made, more importantly, there are intriguing interviews with Kate Sofis of SFMade and Robin Petravic & Catherine Bailey of Heath Ceramics. All three of them do a great job of articulating the case for making and crafting as not elitist or hip or nostalgic, but truly as the basis of innovation, creativity, and diversity in America.
